A sustainable everyday

We want to empower people to live more sustainably, so we’re focusing on affordable, resource and energy efficient products. With veggie hot dogs, and energy-saving solutions, we’re paving the way for more sustainable homes for the many.

How to live more sustainably at home

We understand that more and more people are interested in reducing the impact they have on the planet, but many don’t really know how to do it. To make this easier, we focus on a few key things: energy, air, water, and waste.

Using more sustainable packing for shipping

The IKEA flat packs have been made of cardboard for decades, one of the few materials recycled on a global scale. We recognize that this is not enough. That’s why, we’re working to use only renewable, recycled, and recyclable materials for all our products, packaging, and shipping by 2030.

Our starting point will always be to use material that is renewable and easily recyclable. We will remove all single-used plastic packaging material from our supply chain when possible, and collaborate with industry leaders to decrease our environmental footprint – at lower cost – and increase our material innovation.

Many of our packaging solutions can already be reused by our customers for different purposes. For example, when storing, moving, or reselling your product. Inside our packages, our products are often protected by different kinds of supporting material, which we can reuse as filling for new parcel boxes.

A clear sustainability strategy

We’ve set ambitious goals that includes commiting to becoming climate positive by 2030. This means reducing more greenhouse gas emissions than the full IKEA value chain emits, while growing the IKEA business.
